Trustifi’s rules and policies solution is a simple and useful tool for implementing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for your organization’s email communication.
Every administrator of a Trustifi plan can apply their own choice of rules and/or policies according to their organization’s needs and personal preferences.
For example – organizations that require compliance to a standard like HIPAA or PCI can utilize Trustifi’s One-Click Compliance™ to quickly and easily create a rule that will identify information in the email that relates to HIPAA or PCI and automatically encrypt the content and attachments in that email.
Powerful automated DLP, combined with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities to identify sensitive content in images, can provide your organization an information safety net to make sure your data is secure.
How do Rules and Policies Work in Trustifi?
Rules
As an administrator or reviewer, you can create and apply custom rules to users under your plan.
These rules apply a pre-determined result (e.g. – encrypt the message content) if a certain condition is met (e.g. – the email contains sensitive content).
Every email sent with Trustifi is scanned and analyzed according to its different components:
Sender
Recipients
Subject
Body text
Images (using OCR technology)
Attachments
Headers
If any of these components match the conditions set in any of the rules, the pre-determined result will be applied to the email.
Policies
Similarly to rules, policies can also be applied by administrators across all plan users.
These policies allow you to enable certain email protection methods (e.g. – require Multi-Factor Authentication) to all sent emails.
Differently from rules, these policies do not require a certain condition to be activated – if a policy is enabled, it will be applied to all outgoing Trustifi emails.
